The NC State women’s golf team finished 53 shots over par, good for third place in the 12-team LSU Tiger Classic, at the University Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana this weekend.
The Pack was led by four players who finished in the top 20 of individual results. Junior India Clyburn tied for 12th with 227, good for 11 over par. Junior Naomi Ko finished 15th with a 230, while senior Cecily Overbey and freshman Monika Hartl tied for 16th with a 231. Those scores were over three days of competition; the best one-day score for the Wolfpack was sophomore Mim Sangkapong, who shot a 73 Sunday. Junior Laura Kowohl tied for 31st, shooting a 235 overall.
NC State tied for third with the University of Virginia, shooting 53 over par on the weekend, and a 917 total score. The host team, Louisiana State University, won the event with a 902 overall score. The University of Houston finished second, two shots behind LSU.
The Pack finished with its best score of the weekend on the final day, a 296, only eight shots over par. This weekend was the third time the Wolfpack has finished in the top five at a tournament this spring and the fourth time overall this year.
NC State takes next weekend off before returning to action April 6-8 for the Bryan National Collegiate at Bryan Park Golf Course in Browns Summit, NC.
