A 20-year-old NC State student living in Valentine Commons has been charged with child sex crimes after Raleigh police listened in on a phone call with him and the 12-year-old victim.
The suspect’s name is listed on court documents as Deep Inder Singh. NC State officials have confirmed that they have a student attending the University with the same three names, birth date and address given by the suspect.
According to a search warrant, the victim was on the phone with the police officer when Singh called and was conferenced into the phone call.
According to the report in the search warrant application, the suspect admitted to attempting to engage in relationship with the victim while pretending to be a 15-year-old boy. The suspect also admitted to the sexual nature of the conversation and that he tried to solicit nude photographs from the victim.
Singh was charged with attempt to get child pornography and taking indecent liberties with a child. Singh posted his $200,000 bail several days after his arrest, but it is not confirmed if he is back at his residence in Valentine Commons.
