NC State men’s basketball guard Torin Dorn, a redshirt junior, will declare for the 2018 NBA Draft but not sign an agent, according to a tweet from Jeff Goodman of ESPN.
Dorn transferred to NC State from UNC-Charlotte after his freshman season, and has spent the last two years with the Wolfpack. In the 2017-18 season, the first under head coach Kevin Keatts, Dorn was second on the team with 13.9 points per game and second with 6.3 rebounds per game. He started 32 of the Pack’s 33 games, averaging over 28 minutes per game.
The decision to not sign an agent will give Dorn the chance to pull out of the draft and come back to NC State if he desires, something that teammates sophomore Omer Yurtseven and senior Abdul-Malik Abu both did following the 2016-17 season.
Apart from the potential of losing Dorn, the Wolfpack will also have to fill the void of outgoing graduate transfers and seniors Allerik Freeman, Sam Hunt, Lennard Freeman and Abu, as well as Yurtseven who was granted his release from NC State after announcing he would enter the NBA Draft or seek a transfer.
