Smashed Waffles opened its first Triangle-location on 2304 Hillsborough Street this past Tuesday, Jan. 30. The waffle delivery company’s cafe features donut-sized waffles, coffee and waffle-wiches.
The cafe will be open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and through midnight Fridays and Saturdays.
Prices run from one $3 waffle to a dozen for $21. Customers can also order online for a delivery fee of $3.50.
Justin Coax and Hunter Harrison, the Smashed Waffles founders, also run a food truck called The Smash Shack, which can be booked for events.
The cafe also opened its first physical location in Greenville, North Carolina this past November. Its third cafe will be opening in Wilmington in the coming months.
Prior to working in their new location, the company served out of Pizza La Stella on Fayetteville Street. A forged partnership began between the two businesses last spring, and Pizza La Stella features Smashed Waffles in its weekend brunches.
According to city permits, a Taco Bell Cantina is also expected to join the cafe on Hillsborough Street. The restaurant will serve alcohol, including draft beer, wine and a number spiked of frozen drinks.
