Last Thursday, Nov. 8, 11 UNC System Chancellors received raises by the UNC Board of Governors. NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson received the largest raise among the group.
According to The News & Observer, Woodson received a 4.99 percent raise amounting to $31,577. Woodson’s contract was also extended through June 2023, in a separate vote from the raises and an annual base salary of $664,387 was decided.
Woodson is currently 19th highest paid public university executive in the United States, with only UNC System President, Margaret Spellings, ahead at number 13. According to The News & Observer, Woodson’s compensation totals at $826,136 in 2017 with his annual base salary along with a stipend of $200,000 in private funds from the University Leadership Fund at NCSU.
Woodson is also eligible for bonuses for good performance as he was sought after by other universities in the country.
