Federal Student Aid, an office of the United States Department of Education, has launched a new tool that will make filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application more accessible and easy.
This year the FAFSA opened on Oct. 1 for the 2019-20 academic year. According to their website, while the deadline for filling out the form for North Carolina is June 30, 2020, students should submit their applications sooner rather than later because awards are given out until their funds are completely gone.
The FAFSA website has been redesigned and now has a mobile application that students can fill out the form through.
The new mobile application called myStudentAid is a resource that students can use to access their information after they have created a FSA ID account. When filling out the form on the application, students can set a key so that they can exit the app and be able to return to it where they left off.
According to the website, creating a FSA ID will also allow students to also sign the form electronically. Students can also access information pertaining to documents they should have when completing the application. Students who have questions about how to transfer tax information to include in the application can also access resources online.
