The Carolina Hurricanes are holding a relief drive to help those affected by Hurricane Florence that started Tuesday at 3 p.m., general manager Don Waddell announced.
Fans that donate will get a voucher for two tickets to either Wednesday’s preseason game against the Tampa Bay Lightning or Friday’s against the Washington Capitals. The team will also sell discounted lower-level tickets to its home regular-season games on Oct. 7 and 9, the proceeds of which will go to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund.
The PNC Arena box office will be open for donations Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The donation items that will be accepted include gift cards to national big box stores, baby items, non-perishable foods, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, pet supplies, new pillows, sheets and towels, and plastic shortage bins, but not clothes.
