Fountain, Case and Clark dining halls and residence halls will stay open during the duration of the storm as well, however, students should visit the dining website to view modified hours.
Student Health Services will currently be open on Thursday for students, but if students are need of immediate medical assistance, Orders recommend they call 911.
“The Student Health Services [Center] is going to be the first line for students who are on campus,” Order said. “They have modified hours on Thursday from 8-2 and Friday, at this point, are not slated to be open but on-call.”
Orders expressed that if there are high winds and rains, personal safety should be of students utmost priority.
“Our emergency responders can only get to people if wind and rain are safe for travel because if the winds are too strong you can have car issues and if the flood water is too high, you won’t be able to travel,” Orders said.
Dining halls will be under modified operations, but will be open throughout the storm. According to Orders, over next few days with additional water supplies that are going to be available over the next few days.
According to an email to students from the Division of Academic and Student Affairs, *students will be given the option at dining halls to take out an extra meal in a disposable container provided by NC State Dining. Students are encouraged to take food to their rooms and shelter in place.
“There’s still water available in the campus stores by far, over the course of the next few days,” Orders said. “Dining has ramped up supplies and is going to have resources available including nonperishable, transportable goods, like boxed food type items.
Orders said that if there is a power outage, not all buildings have generators so students should be prepared with flashlights because students also should not have anything that could be a potential fire hazard such as candles.
“Have flashlights and batteries prepared, those are the best,” Orders said. “For power, it’s best to turn off all appliances and unplug things so when the power does come back on we don’t have a surge and additional outages because of over capacity.”
