NC State athletics has announced it will join in the relief efforts to help those affected by Hurricane Florence.
“It’s incredibly important for us to step up and help those in a time of great need,” associate athletics director Fred Demarest said via text message. We wanted to make sure we aligned all parties, to work with campus and provide a comprehensive response.”
At the Parents and Families football game against Virginia Saturday, Sept. 29, items of need (athletics will release more information on this before game day) will be collected at the gates to Carter-Finley Stadium and the Lowes Foods Fan Zone in front of PNC Arena.
In addition, athletics will sell tickets to this year’s basketball Primetime with the Pack event with all after-tax proceeds going to disaster relief.
NC State will also donate new Adidas merchandise, accept donations at a Storm Relief Bus in the parking lot of Close-King Indoor Practice Facility Thursday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. and open its facilities for regional universities and schools that have been affected by the hurricane’s athletic teams.
“One of the great things about this University and state is how everyone comes together in time of need,” Demarest said. “The questions we got internally were how can we help? There were no shortage of people wanting and willing to set up in time of need for our state and community.”
