NC State Registration and Records and Wolfpack Outfitters have extended academic-oriented deadlines due to Winter Storm Inga that hit Raleigh last Wednesday.
Last week, Raleigh received over five inches of snow that resulted in closures, delays and cancelled classes at NC State. Due to the unexpected weather conditions, the Registration and Records office has extended the deadline of the University’s scheduled census date to this Wednesday from its original Jan. 22 date.
According to Charles Clift, the senior associate registrar at the Registration and Records Office, the extension was made to give students a few extra days in classes to make decisions regarding their schedules. The census date is the last day a student can add a course without instructor permission, receive tuition refunds for dropped or changed courses or drop a course without receiving a withdrawn or ‘W’ grade.
The census date is not the only deadline to be extended because of the winter weather. Wolfpack Outfitters has also extended its deadline for students to receive refunds on textbook and course material. According to the bookstore, the extension would have been made regardless of the census date being changed.
For more information regarding NC State’s academic calendar, students can visit the Student Service Center’s website.
Pointing at something on the screen, Katie Nehm, second-year studying communication, helps Wade Rothrock, first-year studying pyschology, with registration for his fall classes. With the new orientation schedule, new students have holds on their accounts until the morning of the second day. “I feel like the orientation counselors and advisors help it go a lot faster,” Nehm said.
