The very first exam period of finals week will be postponed, as the overnight snowfall on Sunday has caused NC State to begin operations with a delayed start at 11 a.m. on Monday.
With the delayed start, the 8 a.m. Monday morning exams have been moved to Saturday at 1 p.m. Exams scheduled for 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday will operate normally.
According to an email sent by the university, NC State has moved to Condition 2 of the UNC System adverse weather policy, which dictates that non-mandatory operations are suspended and only mandatory employees should report to work.
Both D.H. Hill and Hunt libraries are open today until 10 p.m. and will reopen Monday at 8 a.m, according to the NC State libraries website. Any updates on hours will be posted there.
NC State dining will also be operating on a modified schedule, according to their website. Fountain and Clark Dining Halls are open today until 9 p.m. and will reopen tomorrow at 7 a.m. The Atrium will be open at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow, and all Port City Java locations will be open by 7:45 a.m. tomorrow.
According to the Raleigh branch of the National Weather Service (NWS), a winter storm warning has been issued for Raleigh and its neighboring cities until 7 p.m. Monday. This means a potential buildup of ice, the possibility of sleet and several inches of snow. The NWS also stated that travel will remain hazardous through Monday.
ABC11 reported that Raleigh has accumulated approximately 5.5 inches of snow, less than some surrounding areas, like Wake Forest, which got 8 inches. The NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is currently treating roads, which may remain slick, so ABC11 advises staying indoors through the storm.
