Sophomore forward C.J . Leslie will miss the first three Wolfpack basketball games after it was determined that Leslie and his half-brother had taken “impermissible benefits” estimated to be worth $410.
In a press release from N.C . State Athletics sent moments before the Pack took the court against UNC-Asheville , it was announced that N.C . State had made Leslie ineligible and reported the violations to the NCAA, who agreed to reinstate Leslie on the conditions that he sit out the first three games of the season and make up for the $410 in charitable donations.
According to the release, Leslie borrowed a car from a former N.C . State student after an automobile accident in May 2011. The same former student also paid a $260 apartment application fee for Leslie’s half-brother. The use of the car is estimated to be worth $150 in violations had it been rented.
The former student also admitted to giving $1,349 in impermissible benefits to a former student athlete. N.C . State will not comment further until the issue is further reviewed and is “completed to the satisfaction of the University.”
