The iconic country music singer Merle Haggard died Wednesday on his 79th birthday. He recently canceled several concerts due to double pneumonia. Haggard wrote songs like “Mama Tried,” “Branded Man,” “Workin’ Man Blues” and others about his time in incarceration and the struggles of rising from the lower class. Haggard was scheduled to perform at Koka Booth Amphitheater alongside Willie Nelson May 22. The amphitheater has yet to announce if the concert will be canceled.
