WKNC’s 13th annual Double Barrel Benefit concert kicked off at Kings Barcade Saturday to a sold-out crowd of about 300. The event raises money for NC State’s student radio station, WKNC.
“We made about $3,000 off the event,” said Matt Brown, general manager of WKNC. “These profits will go to keeping WKNC around and allowing them to host more events such as these.”
This past weekend was the indie-rock night, featuring four North Carolina bands in Naked Naps, Museum Mouth, Schooner and Des Ark. Double Barrel’s second show will take place in Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro Saturday. The second weekend focuses on North Carolina, hip-hop and rap with Earthy, Deniro Farrar, Professor Toon and Skyblew.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Reid Johnson plays a guitar rift during the Double Barrel Benefit, on Saturday, Feb 14, 2016. The event was hosted to raise money for WKNC and was hosted in King's Barcade.
