The Wake County District Attorney’s Office dropped Aaron Ward’s domestic assault charges Friday, according to court records. Ward was a former member of the 2006 Stanley-cup winning Hurricanes hockey team. He was arrested in his home in Cary and was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female and interfering with emergency communication. He took away his wife’s phone when she tried contacting the police after an attack. Tuesday morning, Ward tweeted “I am deeply humbled by my experience the last few months. I want to thank everyone who has supported and prayed for my family.”
