Freshman Ted Kapita of the NC State men’s basketball team will miss the team’s next three games at the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas due to issues with his student visa, according to Joe Giglio of The News & Observer.
Giglio says NC State is working with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to update Kapita’s student visa paperwork. If Kapita were to leave the country, there would be a risk of him having trouble getting back through customs.
The freshman from the Democratic Republic of the Congo was recently ruled eligible by the NCAA and made his season debut in Sunday’s 86-61 victory over St. Francis College. Kapita scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the Pack’s win.
Kapita will return to the court when the Wolfpack takes on Loyola University Chicago in Raleigh Nov. 26.
