Here are a few tidbits of what is going on in NC State Athletics.
Men’s swimming & diving ranks No. 1 in the nation
The NC State men’s swimming and diving team has risen to the top, as it now ranks No. 1 in the NCAA in the most recent College Coaches Association of America Poll. This comes after the Pack topped the two-time defending national champion Texas over the weekend and after junior and Olympic gold medalist Ryan Held was named ACC Swimmer of the Week. The win over Texas was the second win of the season against a team that ranked in the top 25 as it improved to 3-0 in dual meet action. This is the first time the Wolfpack has been listed No. 1 in the coaches’ poll in program history. Meanwhile, the women’s swimming and diving team ranks sixth in the coaches’ poll, dropping two spots after losing to the Longhorns. However, its two victories over top-25 teams helped keep the team in the top 10 for the second week in a row, the first time in program history it attained this feat.

Allen signs letter of intent
Men’s basketball head coach Mark Gottfried and his staff just keep the recruits coming, this time with the signing of four-star guard Thomas Allen. Allen made the top 150 list for recruits in the 2017 class on both 247Sports.com and Rivals.com. The sharpshooting guard is a hometown product, playing three years at local Garner High School where he led the Trojans to a North Carolina 4A State Championship as a sophomore. Allen averaged 18 points per game during Garner’s very first state basketball championship season. During his junior year he posted averages of 21.5 PPG, 5.6 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. The Raleigh native took his talents to Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH for his senior season.
