Freshman center Omer Yurtseven of the NC State men’s basketball team will be suspended for the first nine games of the regular season, per NC State Athletics.
Yurtseven’s eligibility for his freshman season with the Wolfpack was under question after he received money while playing overseas in Turkey.
The NCAA has cleared Yurtseven to play under the conditions that he sit out 30 percent of NC State’s regular season games, and he donates $1,000 to the charity of his choice, according to NC State Athletics.
Yurtseven will be allowed to participate in the Pack’s two exhibition games and all practices during the length of his suspension.
The highly-touted freshman out of Turkey was a late addition to head coach Mark Gottfried’s 2016 recruiting class, committing to play for the Wolfpack back in May.
“I’m disappointed for Omer,” Gottfried told NC State Athletics. “He’s been patient and 100 percent forthright. We will adapt and integrate him as soon as possible.”
Yurtseven will be eligible to return from suspension Dec. 15 against Appalachian State.
