Four deaths have been reported in North Carolina as a result of Hurricane Matthew, which caused flooding, power outages and agricultural damages, according to The News & Observer.
The National Weather Service released a statement Saturday evening, calling the situation “life threatening.” A portion of the statement read:
“For your safety, you should shelter in place at your current location, until the flood waters recede. Please stay home! Do not attempt to drive anywhere this evening or tonight unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.”
The warning is set to expire at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
There were “numerous reports of flooded homes, businesses and roads in Raleigh” and at least 600,000 customers in the state without power, according to WRAL. WRAL reported some outages may last until Sunday.
Resident students with any on-campus parking permit may park in the permit areas of either West Deck or Coliseum Deck until 7 a.m. on Monday. This does not include the pay lots.
