What: Students, faculty, and community leaders will meet to learn
about the ongoing struggle for voting rights in NC and build a strategy
to remove barriers to one of the fundamental aspects of democracy.
Who: The event is sponsored by Scholars for North Carolina’s Future
and co-sponsored by student groups and area organizations.
Why: The monster Voter ID law, which passed the NC General
Assembly in 2013, threatens access to the polls for many North
Carolinians, but the struggle to achieve equal access to the vote for all
citizens has a long history. This Teach-In will first explore this history
and present challenges to voting rights before bringing students,
faculty, and community members together to improve access to voting
on campus.
Who Should Attend: All members of the University community and
members of the public invested in protecting the right to vote.
When: January 28th, 2016 7pm
Where: NC State, Withers, NC State, Room 232A
