I know a new contract has recently been agreed to between NC State and Adidas, but based on what I saw at yesterday’s Belk Bowl, apparently the school has given up all approval rights to a German firm who has no knowledge of or appreciation for tradition. Initially I could not even figure out which team I should be yelling for. Then I realized there were two schools using maroon (or some strange shade of red) for their uniforms. Doesn’t anyone know that the school colors are RED and WHITE, not black (gag), or red and black (Maryland) or black and white and maroon (yesterday’s uniforms). No wonder the ref was thinking North Dakota State.

Listen to the fight song … “We are the RED and WHITE from State.” Attend any athletic event and listen to the crowd chant “RED!!!” during the national anthem. Review school sports history, at least back to Everett Case and you will see many changes in uniform style, but the colors are always RED and WHITE.

Please use your considerable influence and your bully pulpit to re-establish RED and WHITE for my alma mater’s public colors.
