Flames burned through the roof of a Western Boulevard restaurant, Sushi Nine, early Friday morning, causing severe damage to the building. The call came in about 4 a.m., and it took until about 5:30 a.m. to control the fire at 3812 Western Blvd, according to Raleigh Fire Battalion Chief Kevin Coppage. The outbound lanes of Western Boulevard near Gorman Street were closed but reopened about 7 a.m. Bojangles’ drive-thru was closed because of the fire as well, but no other businesses were affected.
