The E.J. Ourso College of Business Administration will host acareer reception next week to give business leaders the chance tomeet some of the best and brightest members of the businesscollege.
The reception, set for Sept. 15 at the Lod Cook Alumni Center,will be free for students, said Wendy Luedtke, director of Alumniand External Affairs for the college.
“The reception gives students a great opportunity tomeet-face-to-face with recruiters,” Luedtke said.
According to the Ourso College’s Web site, several majorcorporations, including ChevronTexaco, ExxonMobil, Microsoft,PricewaterhouseCoopers, The Shaw Group and Shell will host thereception.
Luedtke said the event will be split up into three rooms, thefirst of which will be a general meeting room where students willhave their first chance to mingle with recruiters.
The other rooms will provide a place for students to meet withfirms in the fields of internal auditing and finance andaccounting.
Luedtke said the reception is open only to students in thebusiness college and participants should arrive in professionalattire.
“In years past, we’ve had some students come without a suit. Therecruiters than see that this student can’t follow the rules,”Luedtke said.
Luedtke said it is important for students to participate inevents such as this in order to get their foot in the door.
“If a recruiter has two resumes that are the same and has metone of the applicants, that applicant will get the job,” Luedtkesaid.
