The Student Ticket Advisory Committee enacted new modifications to the ticketing process for N.C. State’s men’s basketball games to reduce wait times for entrance into PNC Arena.
The changes, to be implemented for State’s season opener against Appalachian State, consist of two different types of tickets distributed to the student body.
Up to 4,500 seats will be reserved for students. After deducting the 736 seats reserved for the pep band, Student Wolfpack Club, cheerleaders and dance team, 3,764 seats will be available through the regular online distribution.
Students who request tickets to any men’s basketball game will receive either a Phase One or Phase Two ticket if they are chosen to receive admission to the game.
Phase One tickets are specifically reserved for students in the top 25 percent of loyalty points out of all requesting students. The remaining seats are filled with Phase Two tickets. If demand for tickets exceeds supply, then Phase Two tickets will be issued to the remaining 75 percent via weighted lottery.
Two hours and 30 minutes prior to each game’s tip-off, PNC Arena parking lots will be opened up to the public. At that time, only students with a Phase One ticket will be permitted to line up for access inside the venue for a protected 30-minute window. After the half-hour has elapsed, students with Phase Two tickets will be permitted to begin lining up.
Seating for each game will still remain as general admission, but the ticketing phase students are placed in may ultimately determine where they will sit.
If a student fails to show up for three men’s basketball games for which they have been assigned a ticket, then their eligibility to request tickets will be revoked for the remainder of the season. After eight career “no-shows,” ticket privileges will be stripped away permanently.
