NC State Athletics continued to dominate this week, coming out on top in most of its competitions. The week was highlighted by the women’s cross country team’s third-straight national title.
Women’s basketball finishes four-game homestand undefeated
NC State women’s basketball is off to a strong start in its 2023-24 campaign. With this week’s wins over Elon and Rhode Island, the Pack is now 4-0. Junior guards Aziaha James and Saniya Rivers continued to lead the red-and-white in scoring, with James tallying 20 points against the Phoenix and Rivers recording 19 against the Rams.
Coming off of a win over then-No. 2 UConn last week, the Wolfpack thrived under the pressure to continue to perform at a high level. NC State moved up four spots in the AP poll this week, now ranking No. 10 in the nation.

Cross country competes at national championships
NC State women’s cross country captured its third-straight national title this week, edging out No. 1 Arizona State by just one point. Senior Katelyn Tuohy led the No. 2 Pack, punching in at 19:23.0 to place fifth overall. All five red-and-white runners that scored placed in the top 70.
The Wolfpack men placed 17th overall with two runners in the top 100.

Volleyball continues to excel in conference play
NC State volleyball smoked Clemson 3-0 on Friday, Nov. 17. The Pack celebrated senior night against the Tigers, with graduate setter Kristen McDaniel being the sole honoree. Although Clemson limited each Wolfpack athlete to less than 10 kills, an exceptional performance on the service line and on defense propelled the red-and-white to victory.

Wrestling remains undefeated
NC State wrestling overwhelmed Army 34-6 to collect its seventh win of the season. No. 9 junior Ed Scott, freshman Dylan Fishback, No. 5 redshirt senior Trent Hidlay, No. 12 redshirt junior Owen Trephan, No. 3 redshirt junior Jakob Camacho, redshirt junior Jarrett Trombley, No. 7 junior Ryan Jack and No. 6 sophomore Jackson Arrington all won their respective matches to catapult the No. 2 Pack to victory. Fishback, Trephan and Camacho all recorded major decisions while Jack and Arrington recorded technical falls and Hidlay won by fall.

Swimming dominates at NC State/GAC Invitational
NC State swimming competed against Arizona State, Duke, the U.S. Military Academy and Virginia Tech at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in a three-day invitational that began on Thursday, Nov. 16 and ended on Saturday, Nov. 18. The No. 7 NC State women totaled 1964 points to win the meet while the No. 4 Wolfpack men took second place with 1806 points.

Men’s basketball defeats Charleston Southern
NC State men’s basketball defeated Charleston Southern 87-53 on Friday, Nov. 17. The 34-point margin of victory is the Pack’s largest this season. Graduate forward DJ Burns and graduate guard DJ Horne led the Wolfpack with 16 and 18 points, respectively. The red-and-white also put on a show on defense, forcing 22 turnovers to create offensive opportunities that ultimately amounted to 29 of NC State’s 87 points.

Football notches 35-28 win over Virginia Tech
NC State football took down the Hokies on the road in its second to last game of the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 18. Graduate quarterback Brennan Armstrong and freshman receiver Kevin Concepcion combined to put on one of the Pack’s best offensive performances of the season. Concepcion hauled in both of Armstrong’s touchdown passes and recorded a total of seven receptions for 63 yards. Armstrong threw for 203 yards and tallied 89 rushing yards in the win.
