The ASSIST Center is working on research to convert energy in the body into fitness trackers and other measures of overall health through devices like a wired wristband or a heart monitor embedded in a T-shirt. These trackers would help people better measure and understand what’s happening in their bodies and in their environment. The devices would rely on body heat and body motion to power them. The research is funded by a grant of approximately $18.5 million throughout five years, and the device should be available to the public sometime within that time.
