I have many wonderful memories of spending days on the beach. I would build sand castles, swim in the waves and lay out in the sun. North Carolina beaches hold a special place in many hearts, even if folks don’t live on the coast. That’s why I’m particularly happy to see cities all over the state taking a stand against offshore oil drilling. Willard Killough quotes a resolution created by the town of Carolina Beach “The Town of Carolina Beach urges Governor McCrory and the entire North Carolina General Assembly to oppose offshore petroleum production polices that risk the health, safety and sound environmental stewardship of North Carolina’s coastline whose natural beauty attracts a proven tourism driven economy.” This is an amazing step in urging our representatives to take a stand against offshore drilling.

The Wolfpack must take action as well. We need to support our coastal North Carolina family by calling to let Governor McCrory know exactly how important our coast is to us and that we do not support offshore oil drilling in North Carolina.
