Tunisian singer, songwriter, guitarist and composer Emel Mathlouthi will perform at Stewart Theatre in Talley Student Union Thursday at 8 p.m. Mathlouthi is known as “the voice of the Tunisian Revolution” after her song “Kelmti Horra,” “my word is free,” caught on with the Arab Spring protesters. Her style has been described as a combination of rock, trip-hop and electronica with Arabic and North African influence. A pre-show discussion with Philip Van Vleck will be held in Room 3285 in Talley.
