Anytime members of Inflowential can branch out and try new things, it should be encouraged. This is the case with Kooley High, made up of three of Inflowential’s members — including Charlie Smarts, Tab-one and DJ Ill Digitz — who have collaborated with four others to form this experimental group.
With catchy tracks, but a sound distinct from much of Inflowential’s work, the project works. The infusion of Rapsody’s female voice gives a different, but smooth, feel to Summer Sessions.
The addition of the track constructed by 9th Wonder — the famous Triangle producer — provides the emcees with some of their best opportunities to thrive, and they come through.
Although it may not yet match the efforts of the rest of Inflowential, Kooley High seems to be a worthy project, and a group to keep your eye on in the Triangle hip-hop scene.
