Search reveals stolen iPodsCampus Police executed a search warrant in Bowen Hall on behalf of the Durham Police Department Sunday, after the DPD arrested a student for crimes involving iPods, according to Capt. Jon Barnwell of Campus Police.
Max Myrick, a freshman in mechanical engineering, had been buying iPods from area Target stores, selling the mp3 players on Craigslist.com for around $200 each, and then returning the empty iPod boxes to Target to get money back, according to the arrest warrant request.
Myrick was caught while trying to return an iPod box filled with a roll of pennies at a Target in Durham, the request stated, Durham Police got his information.
“[The DPD] had the information that it was a student, so we helped them execute the search warrant at which point they made an arrest,” Barnwell said.
Campus Police recovered 10 iPods from Myrick’s room, as well as 8 bags that probably contained headphones, the request said.
Clyde Cox, Myrick’s roommate and freshman in mechanical engineering, said Myrick had given him two iPods, which he would turn over to police, the request said.

A female student walked back from her car, through the Coliseum TunnelThursday at around 11 p.m., Capt. Jon Barnwell said.
She went back to her car to retrieve something, went back through the tunnel, and turned right to go to Syme Hall when someone grabbed her from behind and threw her toward a fence by the railroad tracks, according to Barnwell.
“She was carrying her pepper spray in her hand,” he said. “She managed to unlock the safety. Then she was able to deploy the pepper spray.”
She then ran toward Syme and the suspect ran back toward the tunnel, Barnwellsaid. Crime stoppers is offering a monetary reward for anyone who can produce information that will lead to an arrest and conviction.
The police crime alert described the suspect as a male of dark complexionin his mid-20s to 30s. He is approximately five foot-nine, thin and wasseen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and dark shoes.
