Headlines that matterWomen’s golf 6th at ACCThe women’s golf team finished sixth out of nine schools at the ACC championship this weekend in Daytona Beach, Fla., with a 51-over-par score. Duke won the event, and North Carolina finished fifth. Sophomore Emily Street tied for 19th individually.
Men’s golf 7thThe men’s golf team finished seventh out of 11 teams in this past weekend’s ACC championship in New London, N.C. The team finished six-under-par, while freshman Matt Hill tied for eighth individually with a five-under-par mark.
Tennis teams lose Friday; McGee, Weinacker receive All-ACC honorsThe men’s tennis team lost 4-1 to No. 1 seed Virginia in Friday’s ACC Tournament, while the women’s team lost 4-0 to No. 1 seed Georgia Tech. Junior Jay Weinacker and sophomore James McGee made the 2008 men’s tennis All-ACC team.
Baseball takes 2 of 3 from HokiesThe baseball team took two wins in three games at Virginia Tech this weekend. After beating Virgina Tech 8-2 Friday night in Blacksburg, N.C. State lost 4-3 on Saturday to end its five-game winning streak. The Wolfpack finished the weekend with an 11-5 win Sunday to push its ACC mark to 12-8 in the ACC and 27-12 overall.
