Tonight, N.C. State fans will be seeing red in the sky and on the court. As the Earth casts a shadow over the moon, so will the men’s basketball team try to once again blackout North Carolina at the RBC Center. The Wolfpack is defending last year’s 83-79 home victory and hopes to once again send the Tar Heels stumbling back home to fill the Old Well with tears.
The team currently has a 44-56 home record against UNC and this is its second time playing under the guidance of Coach Sidney Lowe against the Tar Heels in Raleigh. For the ninth time, Lowe will likely don his flashy red jacket and implore the fates to grant him one more victory to stitch into its lining.
A victory against No. 3 ranked UNC will make teams in the ACC, and across the nation, give our players the respect they deserve. By the time the moon is totally eclipsed at 10:01 p.m. tonight, the Tar Heel team should be back in Chapel Hill sipping consolatory lattes as they lounge around in their checkered short-shorts and white Sperrys.
Fans should show up early to the RBC center tonight and make sure the atmosphere is electric by the time the teams take the court. In games like this one the crowd is the sixth man and can give the home team an advantage over any challenger. Let’s show the nation that we know how to pack an arena and boast as passionate a support base as any other team in the country.
As this will be the only full lunar eclipse this year, we should complete the package and bring in a resounding victory. Like this astrological event, games against UNC only happen a few times a year, so it is important to make the most of each one.
The sky will be will be glowing red tonight, not blue, so we need to turn the Bell tower a similar hue. We are in our element and even the moon is shining its support. Let’s give it everything we have and send up a victory howl when the game is won.
GO WOLFPACK!
