‘Think Pink’ initiative spreading past Yow, Raleigh
The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s “Think Pink” initiative continues to raise money and awareness of breast cancer on a national level. The initiative is in support of the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund, and officially began Feb. 8 and will last through Feb. 17, with ESPN dedicating its “February Frenzy” and “Big Monday” women’s college basketball games to promote breast cancer awareness and help raise money for the fund.Though N.C. State’s Hoops for Hope game was one of the most notable because of Yow, Monday’s Rutgers-Tennessee women’s game also featured pink jerseys and a crowd full of pink. The initiative is spreading across sports this week and over 900 participants have committed to the initiative, according to the WBCA web site.
