Suggestion for the Technician
Everyday I notice dozens of students discarding their Technicians in the regular wastebaskets, and I wonder why they don’t put them in the recycling bins that are in the hallway of most campus buildings.
I have decided that it is probably because they don’t think about it. So I think it would be a great idea for the Technician to put, in at least one edition, in large print and on the front page, a banner which reads: “Please Recycle this Newspaper” and maybe a small descriptive paragraph.
What do you think?

Daily Tar Hell
You have truly failed me this year. Every time I open the Technician‘s Viewpoint section I see an article along the lines of, “Bring Back Old Traditions,” or “Support This or That New Tradition.” Well, Technician, you have a tradition too, THE DAILY TAR HELL. Evidently you do not understand the significance of this issue. I had three family friends as well as my brother, who are all alumni, ask me to get them a copy. Now what am I supposed to tell them? That the Technician is too lazy to put in a little extra effort to cheer up thousands of people’s days?
I am also a little confused on the budget issue. You did have enough money to print a full color article on N.C. State students working at animal shelters. You also had a full color article on the dust on cars in Raleigh. You didn’t, however, have enough money to print a one-page, black-and-white insert. I’m sure if you would have told anyone ahead of time that you would not be able to print this issue, some alumni or student group would have funded it. Why did we even need a regular issue today? If this was only because of ad sales then your marketing department is a failure.
I think one of two things happened. You forgot about it because you really don’t understand the hatred for UNC that dwells in many of us, or you were told by some “higher power” that the last issue was offensive and you didn’t have the guts to print the paper.
You have truly failed every faculty member, student and alum of this great institution.
