In your orientation issue this past week, you stated in the “Traditions” section that Homecoming has “gotten better each year, except for the Pack Howl, which has failed in recent years to attract big names.”
I may only be a sophomore, but I live in Raleigh and have been following who’s been playing the Pack Howl since I was in high school, and I can tell you that this year was the first year that actually saw great acts play. In years before, the Homecoming Committee and Alumni Association have booked has-been country band Lonestar, Nickleback-sound-a-like Crossfade and the even more Nickelback-aping Daughtry.
This year, we had both Guster and The Avett Brothers. While Guster is a great live act in their own right, The Avett Brothers are arguably one of the best live acts around right now. It was nice to finally see some true artists play the Pack Howl concert this year, and let’s hope we see some top-tier acts again this year.
