Eugene to miss openerRedshirt junior Jamelle Eugene, the football team’s slated starter for Thursday’s season opener at South Carolina, will miss the game due to an ankle injury, coach Tom O’Brien revealed after practice Tuesday. Senior Andre Brown will start in Eugene’s place for the contest with sophomore Curtis Underwood serving as the primary backup.
Also, a press release from N.C. State Athletics announced that Donald Bowens and Javon Walker will miss the season with back and knee injuries, respectively.
Basketball releases scheduleN.C. State Athletics released the men’s basketball schedule for 2008-2009 season. The team will open the regular season on the road, at New Orleans, for the first time in 11 seasons on Nov. 6. The schedule also includes four on-campus games in Reynolds Coliseum including two exhibition games against Fort Valley State and Catawba College in Reynolds on Nov. 6 and Nov. 11, respectively and two regular season contests against High Point and Winston-Salem State. The team will face Florida in Gainesville on Jan. 3, and will have 13 games against teams that went to the 2008 NCAA Tournament. The complete schedule is as follows:
