Evidence.
That’s what it took for a 180-degree turn in the life of Frank Turek, co-author of I Don’t Have Enough Faitah to be an Atheist, according to Stephanie San, a publicity chair for Turek’s talk on campus next Thursday, which will be hosted by Campus Crusade.
San, a sophomore in First Year College, said Turek was an atheist, but found so much evidence to believe in a higher power that he turned against his atheistic beliefs.
Turek is on a team of people that travels around the country, speaking to college students about atheism and the evidence of God, San said.
She said statistics show that three out of four people who are raised as Christians reject their beliefs upon coming to college.
So atheism is something Campus Crusade wants to address, according to Joseph Yandle, a junior in religious studies.
In 2006, Yandle said, the group hosted an event called “Does God Exist?”
The event reached full capacity, and 500 students were turned away at the door, Yandle said.
According to Yandle, the talk spurred discussion among students in the weeks following about the existence of God.
Now, he said Crusade expects “well over 1,000” people to attend Turek’s talk next week.
