Softball picked sixth in ACC Preseason PollThe N.C. State Softball team was picked to finish sixth of eight teams in the annual ACC Preseason Poll, voted on by the ACC’s coaches and released by the ACC Tuesday.Despite the Pack’s second-place finish in the ACC last season, the Pack suffered several key losses including last season’s ACC player of the year, pitcher Abbie Sims and slugger Jen Chamberlin, the Wolfpack’s all-time leading home run hitter.Still, the Pack returns six players from its ACC Championship run in 2006 and 11 players with NCAA tournament experience.

Page to be honored as ACC Women’s Basketball LegendFormer N.C. State women’s basketball player Linda Page will be honored at the 2008 ACC Tournament as a member of the fourth annual class of ACC Women’s Basketball Legends.Page will be honored, along with 11 former players and two former coaches, at halftime of the first semifinal game of the tournament, as well as with a special luncheon.Page is the second-leading scorer in Wolfpack women’s history, and one of only four State women to score more than 2,000 career points. She was also a two-time First Team All-ACC performer.
