Headlines That MatterFormer national champion passes at 45Tab Thacker, a three-time All-American and four-time ACC wrestling champion, passed away during the break due to complications from diabetes.Thacker won the NCAA championship as a senior heavyweight in 1984 and completed that season with a perfect 31-0 record.After ending his wrestling career, Thacker began acting and appeared in several movies including “City Heat,” “Wildcats,” “Police Academy 4,” “Police Academy 5,” and “Identity Crisis.”After his acting days, Thacker returned to Raleigh, where he owned and operated several night clubs and eventually became a bail bondsman, according to a release from N.C. State Athletics.
