According to Student Senate President Forest Hinton, vote.ncsu.edu reached its quota limit just before 11 p.m. last night, prohibiting students from vote. Hinton and the Elections Commission said they believed it shut down at 10:40 p.m..The Elections Commission allowed students to submit paper ballots until 12:40 a.m. to the Elections Commission office in Witherspoon Student Center.Hinton blamed the problem on the Information Technology Division.”I.T. didn’t put enough quota on the site, even after [Student Government] asked for more,” he said. The same problem arose last year, midway through the election process, but was quickly solved. As of midnight last night, only one student had submitted a paper ballot.Hinton said he wasn’t afraid the problem would prohibit a large number of students from voting.”Stats have showed well over 95 percent of students would have already voted by the time the system shut down,” Hinton said.Hinton did not inform the candidates of the problem, and instead worked it out with the Election Commission.”As far as I know, the elections are going to count,” Hinton said.
