Will Langley is passionate and dedicated. But more importantly, he wants to have fun.
“We’re going to have fun, and we’re going to turn Student Government around,” he said.
Langley has Student Government experience and said he knows what it takes to be successful.
“I come from a Student Government background; I know about what it takes to make things change,” he said.
Two main issues Langley plans to focus on are initiating a book rental program and improving the Hillsborough Street Hike.
The book rental program involves students renting books instead of buying them, a program that Erskine Bowles, president of the UNC system, openly supports. Langley said that if elected, he’ll make sure the program happens and that it’s student-friendly.
Langley hopes to improve the Hillsborough Street Hike by blocking off the streets and having a band. He also hopes to make it a tradition for all students, not just students over 21.
“More than anything, I am a normal student, and I see what’s going on in Student Government; I know what’s going on in Student Government,” he said. “I’ve got the passion. It’s one thing to have great ideas, but it’s another thing to be passionate about it.”
Langley said Student Government is the most important issue that needs improvement — it needs to do things for the students.
“We can do it; Student Government can do it,” he said. “We’ve got a whole lot of people that care about making it great.”
Langley said he is not a tool of the administration and is not the kind of guy that gets walked over. Everything on his platform, he said, is doable.
“These are all things students find fun,” he said. “I’m real excited about getting started.”
