Senior designers showcase projectsECE Senior Design Day will be held on Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Friday Institute. Almost 140 electrical and computer engineering seniors will showcase this semester’s projects from the senior design project course.
Annual health fair to be hosted by the Islamic Association of RaleighThe IAR will host its sixth multicultural health fair with many student volunteers from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 29 at Method Community Center and Park. Free health screenings and seminars for the public will be held.
Agricultural Field Day to be heldExperts from the University will be present in Harrellsville, N.C., from 5 to 8:30 p.m on May 4. The purpose of the event is to familiarize farmers with canola, a new North Carolina crop that can be used to make biodiesel fuel.
Ralph Cicerone to deliver N.C. State Commencement AddressRalph Cicerone, president of the National Academy of Sciences, will deliver the commencement address Saturday, May 13. The commencement ceremony will take place at the RBC Center. Chancellor James L. Oblinger will bestow honorary degrees from N.C. State to Cicerone, J. Stuart Hunter, Daniel L. McFadden, John Ruffin and George S. Tolley.
Best-selling author to speak at convocationMitch Albom, a syndicated sports writer, ESPN reporter and commentator and best-selling author, will be the convocation speaker during Wolfpack Welcome Week in August. He will speak Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. in the RBC Center. Deb Luckadoo, director of campus activities, said in the past the audience at convocation was mostly freshman but hopes for more returning students to attend.This is the fourth year the convocation has been offered for students, with last year’s convocation attracted about 2,000 students.
