Season ends for HancockSophomore Leigha Hancock wrapped up her season Thursday afternoon after a score of 9.675 on floor at Oregon State during the NCAA Championships. She was the only gymnast from N.C. State to make the trip, and it comes after tying for first on floor at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on April 8.

Softball to Virginia for 3-game seriesAfter defeating Elon 8-1 and 2-0 in its doubleheader Wednesday for the first time in team history, N.C. State travels to Charlottesville for a three-game series against Virginia this weekend. The Wolfpack defeated the Cavaliers 8-7 March 5 at the Buzz Classic in Marietta, Ga. Junior pitcher Shaina Ervin earned the win while her sister, junior catcher Miranda Ervin went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one homerun.

Championships continue todayThe ACC Outdoor Championships started Thursday and continue through Saturday in Winston-Salem.Mitchell Pope, a junior in shot put, has the second-best score in the ACC this season in the shot put while Reggie Reese, a freshman sprinter, has the second-fastest time in the 100m.
Men’s golf
Pack prepares for ACC ChampionshipAfter its third-place finish in the ACC Championships last season, N.C. State travels to New London, N.C., as the No. 5 seed in the 11-team tournament. The tournament starts today for State as it takes on Boston College. The tournament runs through the weekend and finishes Sunday.

‘Canes take No. 2 seed in Stanley Cup PlayoffsWith a 4-0 loss Tuesday to Buffalo, Carolina fell to the No. 2 seed in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Hurricanes will take on the Canadiens in the first round, a team they dominated throughout the season. The ‘Canes outscored the Canadiens 25-9 on the season, including 8-2 and 5-1 victories over the last two. The series starts Saturday at 7 p.m. in the RBC Center.
