Feminist to speak about abortion
Serrin M. Foster, president of Feminists for Life, will speak in Mann Hall Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. According to a press release, Foster will present a lecture entitled “The Feminist Case Against Abortion.” She will be speaking about 200 years of anti-abortion feminism and outline the abortion rights of the modern women’s movement.
Foster presented an anti-abortion position in an abortion debate in the 1996 elections.
Additionally, Foster participated in an online interview during the 2000 Democratic National Convention.
Her other appearances include a CNN discussion of abortion in 2001 and a presentation at the annual Life Conference held in Stormont, Northern Ireland in 2000. FFL was founded in 1972 and is a nonsectarian, grassroots organization.
It’s mission is to follow the efforts of early American feminists including Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
FFL strives to eliminate abortion by presenting practical alternatives and has distributed pregnancy resource kits to colleges nationwide.

Holocaust survivor to speak on campus
David Faber, a Holocaust survivor, is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. in Stewart Theatre in the Talley Student Center Tuesday.
Faber survived seven concentration camps, including Auschwitz.
Before being liberated in Bergen-Belsen in 1945, Faber witnessed the murder of his family, including his parents, brother and five out of six of his siblings.
He is scheduled to speak for about an hour and a half with a follow-up session for questions.
According to Mike Giancola, director of the Center of Student Leaders Ethics and Public Service program, nearly 1,000 students are estimated to attend.
Giancola said tickets are no longer available; however, an overflow is expected in the Walnut Room of Talley where the speaker will be shown on a TV.
