A lot at stakeAs we have both been constantly quoted, this a ‘blue moon’ election, and very few people are being sent to D.C. (no one from the N.C. State district thanks to Brad Miller’s gerrymandering) so national issues are irrelevant to this election. As a student leader, I expect more from you than consistently trying to pull one over on individuals, as well as the student body.
The “honest” leadership you are talking about has made North Carolina easily named the most corrupt state in the country. With eight representatives and state employees currently under investigation or in jail, the North Carolina Democratic party is in bigger trouble than the Republicans are in Washington.
North Carolina has the highest taxes in the Southeast and yet the worst roads and among the worst education. The lottery’s passage was unconstitutional and driver’s licenses are issued to illegals. Furthermore, Democratic House Speaker Jim Black (who is currently under investigation by the Wake County DA) asked for $200,000 of tax payer dollars to pay for his legal bills.
There is a lot at stake for today’s youth, especially in a state where the education budget was cut to make way for the profit from an illegal lottery. We have seen nothing from the Democrats for the past four years and the only thing you were correct in saying is that it is time for a change.
