Jazz singer to visit Stewart Theatre
Grammy-nominated jazz singer, Kurt Elling, will perform at 8 p.m. on Thursday at Stewart Theatre.
Elling is known, according to Sharon Moore, director of Stewart Theatre, as an amazing jazz singer, who has a depth of voice that no one could forget.
“He is a very smart, intelligent musician and individual. He has a really awesome command of rhythm and phrasing,” Moore said.
Moore said she and other members of Center Stage and Arts N.C. chose Elling because of his fame and talent. Elling has produced seven albums on his Blue Note label.
“We are fortunate to have him come to Center Stage,” Moore said.
Moore said she is expecting a “good” turn-out for the event, with at least half of the seats filled with members of the N.C. State and Raleigh community.
Tickets are $5 for students and $26-$30 for the general public.
