Students “meet and greet” political candidates
The N.C. State and Meredith College Democrats hosted “Pizza and Politics,” a meet and greet opportunity for students and election candidates, at That’s Amore Pizza Wednesday night. According to Megan Perry, a senior in political science and former vice president of College Democrats, the event went well.
“This event was kind of my brain child,” Perry said. “I am really happy to see the turnout of both candidates, students and people from the neighborhood.”
Judge Bob Hunter was one of the candidates who came to the event and he said although he had traveled to 99 counties all over the state so far, he wanted to come out to the event to ask for students’ support.
“Young people are so connected and much more influential than they realize,” Hunter said.
Noelle Moursy, an unaffiliated freshman in animal science, said she came out to the event to become more knowledgeable about the Democratic party. She said she was glad the CDs were hosting the event so she could get the information “first-hand.”
According to Katie Magee, a senior in communication, she had a better understanding of the candidates’ campaigns after the event.
“The candidates were all eager to talk about issues important to young people and answer any questions I had,” Magee said.
