A motorcyclist crashed into a parked car belonging to Ellis Jones Jr., a freshman in electrical engineering, south of Jeter Drive Tuesday around 6:30 p.m.
“One vehicle coming down Jeter appears to have lost control and hit a car,” Sgt. William Davis of Campus Police said.
According to Davis and Sgt. Jon Barnwell of Campus Police, the subject was alert and conscious. Barnwell said the motorcyclist sustained a shoulder sprain and injury to his leg.
“There were witnesses that said he may have been doing tricks on the motorcycle before the accident,” Barnwell said.
Barnwell said the matter is currently under investigation and Campus Police could not release the motorcyclist’s name yet.
Jones was not present when the accident occurred, but he was walking back to his car from Taco Bell and was there when the EMS took the motorcyclist away. According to Barnwell, responders transported the motorcyclist to WakeMed.
“I was just shocked to see my car like this when I got here,” he said.
Jones said it seems like his car is going to be totaled but also said he hopes the motorcyclist will be all right.
“They said the guy was going pretty fast and he lost control,” Jones said.
Jones said he heard the motorcyclist jumped off the motorcycle and also said he estimates the impact moved his car five feet.
