Taking time to glance at water lilies
Monet is in Raleigh, and he’s come 50 times over.
The North Carolina Museum of Art has a collection of 50 Monet paintings in an exhibition lasting until Jan. 14, 2007.
The paintings, which feature Monet’s paintings of Normandy including “Water Lilies,” have come “from all over the world” including museums and private collections, according to Jennifer Best, the media relations officer for N.C. Museum of Art.
“[Some come] from those lucky enough to have a Monet hanging above their fire place,” Best said.
With such a big event coming to the museum, the crowds have come as well, according to Best. The crowds, ranging from five to 60 years old, fill all the corners of the exhibit.
“It’s been a really good mix of people, but shows like this you get a mix,” Best said.
Best said the museum has planned a college night on Oct. 27 to bring students out to see the exhibit. The college night will last from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and costs $5.
