According to Pamela Oakley-Lisk, a spokesperson for Progress Energy, a large tree fell on a power line at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday, leaving nearly 4,000 people in the Western Blvd and Gorman Street area without power.
Progress Energy crews worked to remove the tree, which was knocked down by strong winds, and fix the power. Residences and businesses gradually got electricity back by 7:18 p.m., when the crews restored all power, Oakley-Lisk said.
Oakley-Lisk said she was unaware of the exact locations affected by the outages.
“The crews were out there in the wind working to fix the power immediately,” she said.
By about 6:30 all but nearly 300 people had power restored, according to Oakley-Lisk.
